Molln has been considered the center of European jaw harp production for over 400 years, which is why the small, ancient instrument, known in many cultures, is also found in the municipal coat of arms.

Since the 17th century, we have been crafting traditional, high-quality, hand-forged and finely tuned jaw harps. Discover the fascinating soundscape of this unique instrument.
Whether you're looking to buy a jaw harp, hear sound samples, or learn more about its history and UNESCO cultural heritage, you've come to the right place. On October 15, 1679, the production of jaw harps was regulated by the enactment of a guild ordinance (HWO). This ordinance was granted by Johann Maximilian Reichsgraf von Lamberg (owner of the Steyr estate). At its peak, up to 33 small family businesses produced several million jaw harps annually in and around Molln.
We are a family business, now in its twelfth generation, run by Franz Wimmer's daughter, Ilse Bades.
